My four new guys have been through the wars a bit and the smallest, now named Smartie, unfortunately has an eye missing alongside large chunks of all the legs. I'm doing the usual new crab/regrowth needed TLC and offering lots of extra calcium, chitin, protein and mineral sources alongside the usual varied diet. No sign of mites so far so claws crossed that will remain the same. This will be the little guys progress thread. S/he is still very shy (they all are and have clearly been through the wars) but I managed to get a couple of pictures of Smartie.

They can but it takes longer than legs, will have to wait and see. burntteddy He has gone down to moult by the looks of it about a week and a half ago so claws crossed for a safe one.

tinymaze He may have gone down to destress since your guys are new but they regrow legs surprisingly easily, I've had a couple that came with one missing (some with chunks of others gone too) and they all come back up with a shiny new one. Well it looks like Smartie has had a safe first moult, the lack of intact legs seems to have stopped him/her digging properly so the cave was barely below the surface and blocked off with a shell that one of the others changed into tonight. Luckily all the exo is gone, I've popped Smartie into a little setup inside the main one just for tonight to keep an eye but I think tomorrow it will be fine for him to rejoin the rest. Still an eye missing but I'm thinking that might actually be genetic, it takes them a long time to regrow those anyway if they ever do. Crab carapace, calcium coated popcorn and leaf litter, the three Indo favourites. Doolyboppers grew back properly too!

I had rescued a C. brevimanus in 2009 - she was without antennae, one walking leg and (as far as I remember) one claw was missing completely. After a long molt she was up again, with all things rebuilt. But she lost one eye in this molt. After 3-5 molts her eye was back again.
She is still alive and healthy. Now living in big tanks of a friend of mine (she was the only C. brevimanus and my friend already got some)
