hi all again, well I'm lucky enough to live near the sea and am able to get goodies from the beach, i been able to get some cuttlefish, that i boiled and dried. I also have tried some seaweed. i just washed it in salt water, but they ignored it so i took it out the next day. On the beach there's seems to be allot of crab exo (think from the seagulls) would this be safe for them? if so would i need to boil or bake it before hand? should i have boiled/baked the seaweed too? Is there anything else to look out for on the beach that would be good for them?

Seaweed I offer either totally fresh or dry, they won't always take it or noticeably have eaten it depending on where they are in the moult cycle but beach fresh goes down better than stuff that has been cleaned. Crab carapace I clean, usually boil then bake or microwave but check it *very* well as even a tiny bit left inside can stink up the tank beyond belief.
Depending on where you stand on feeding raw meats mine do absolutely adore fresh washed up dead stuff like shrimp, whelks etc, obviously you have to be careful doing that due to hygiene but it is a very natural food for them.

I gave mine a piece of cuttlefish with fleshy bit left on. Was a bit smelly but they did prod and poke it for a bit
